Moving bus touches high-tension wire, nine passengers injured

We all felt an electric shock.”Rampal Bahora, one of the passengers in the bus, said, “When the bus came into contact with the high-tension wire, there was a loud sound. However, we had hardly covered a distance of two kilometres when the terrace of the bus suddenly touched a high-tension wire and current spread in the bus. They have been admitted to two private hospitals. Police said that the devotees had come to Bareilly to participate in a “satsang” (religious event).Dalbir Singh, station house officer (SHO), Hafizganj police station, said, “A tourist bus from Rajasthan had come to Bareilly for a five-day religious event at the mausoleum of Sant Sukhram at Richola Tarachand village. While moving on a culvert near Richola Tarachand village, the bus came into contact with a high-tension wire and nine passengers, who did not have any footwear on, sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment at two private hospitals and their condition is normal. No casualty has taken place.”Suresh, one of the victims admitted at a private hospital at Delapeer, said, “I am a native of Jaitaram village in Rajasthan and had come to Bareilly on a religious tour via Mathura. After seeking blessing at a Bareilly village, we had left for Hardiwar. However, we had hardly covered a distance of two kilometres when the terrace of the bus suddenly touched a high-tension wire and current spread in the bus. We all felt an electric shock.”Rampal Bahora, one of the passengers in the bus, said, “When the bus came into contact with the high-tension wire, there was a loud sound. Due to confusion and fear, a few people tried to jump out of the vehicle and sustained injuries due to electrocution. The incident took place nearly two kilometres away from Richola Tarachand village.”
