BAREILLY: On Friday, the government railway police (GRP) claimed to have nabbed a 32-year-old man identified as Guddu, a resident of Subhashnagar locality here, who had allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-old girl from Kolkata and wanted to sell her here to his neighbour. After arresting the accused, GRP handed him over to Kolkata police, since a police team had arrived here searching him. The case has already been lodged in Kolkata.GRP station house officer, Kishan Kumar, told, TOI, “On Friday noon, we received the information about the incident by Kolkata police that a 32-year-old man Guddu, who lives in Subhashnagar locality and works as labourer, has kidnapped 14-year-old girl Pooja, resident of Kolkata, and wanted to sell her here to his neighbour. Immediately our GRP team traced him and we nabbed the accused with the girl from the junction and handed Guddu to the Kolkata police. The missing complaint was already filed by girl’s parents in Kolkata.”“After interrogation of the accused, Guddu revealed that his neighbour is childless and wanted some child to adopt. He was in the Kolkata for some personal work, when he was returning to Bareilly when he lured the girl with chocolates and took her from the Kolkata junction and brought her from there,” the SHO said.“Further probe is still underway into the case,” the SHO added.
