Burglars target liquor shop owned by MLA’s son, decamp with Rs 25,000 cash

Shahjahanpur: Burglars struck at a liquor shop owned by the son of local MLA Roshanlal Verma and decamped with Rs 25,000 cash early on Thursday. The incident occurred in Nigohi town of Shahjahanpur district.According to circle officer Baldev Khaneda, the burglars entered the shop through the BJP office, which is situated just behind the shop. However, the success rate of investigating officers has not been very impressive. We are probing all angles and taking the help of local informers to get a breakthrough in this case,” the circle officer told TOI.In the past few months, Nigohi has reported a number of incidents of thefts and burglaries. They broke the grill of the party office to gain entry into the shop, police said, adding that they had also targeted a motorcycle owned by the legislator’s son but could not succeed.According to police, the burglars took away cash worth Rs 25,000 and an air gun belonging to the MLA’s younger son, Sachin Verma, who owns the shop.The shop is located in a busy market area, barely a few metres away from the Nigohi police station.“We are thoroughly investigating this case and it looks like the burglars were quite familiar with this place.
