Bareilly: Investigations have revealed that two criminals who were gunned down earlier this week had procured SIM cards from Rampur and Delhi on false IDs. The police had recovered two mobile phones and motorcycles from the encounter site.A team of local police had travelled to Delhi to investigate details of the SIM card that was purchased in the capital.“A team has been sent Delhi to investigate from where the mobile SIM card was purchased. Another SIM was purchased from Rampur. Both SIM cards were issued on different IDs other than of the deceased criminals,” SSP G Muniraj said.The police were confident that they would nab the three criminals who had escaped from the encounter site. Refusing to divulge details, he added, “It will not be appropriate to give details about absconding accused right now. Very soon we will disclose how they had hatched the conspiracy to rob jeweller’s employees and committed crime.”Meanwhile, a magisterial enquiry has been set up to investigate the incident. District magistrate VK Singh described it as a “routine process”.Earlier, on January 7, five miscreants had robbed three employees of bullion trader Anup Agrawal as they were headed towards the railway station. The miscreants snatched the bag and shot at one of the employees. Within 10 hours of the incident, police had gunned down two accused and recovered the stolen money.
