Bisalpur 4-lane flyover hit as Rs 1 cr needed to shift electric poles

The upcoming flyover will be 70.88 metres in length, 17 metres wide and will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 12.59 crore. Bareilly: The Bareilly-Bisalpur four-lane flyover project by Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation’s (UPSBC) has virtually stopped for want of funds to shift electricity poles and lines that are in the way. Nearly 20% work was completed recently by UPSBC but there are a few electricity poles that need to be shifted as these are acting as a hindrance in construction work. The construction of a flyover is expected to facilitate commuters in the area, said officials.The proposal of the Bisalpur flyover was approved by UP finance minister Rajesh Agarwal last year.

Bareilly: The Bareilly-Bisalpur four-lane flyover project by Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation’s (UPSBC) has virtually stopped for want of funds to shift electricity poles and lines that are in the way. According to the officials, the corporation had asked the power department to shift the electricity poles to facilitate construction work but the latter sent an estimate of around Rs 1.10 crore as cost of shifting the poles.Corporation officials told TOI that state government had sanctioned only Rs 50 lakh for shifting of poles and electric lines. Since UPSBC does not have the required funds, work has now slowed down, they added.Speaking with TOI, Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation junior engineer Sunil Giri said, “The construction of the four-lane flyover connecting Bareilly and Bisalpur and began last month. Nearly 20% work was completed recently by UPSBC but there are a few electricity poles that need to be shifted as these are acting as a hindrance in construction work. We informed the same to power department officials following which, they prepared an estimate of around Rs 1 crore as cost of shifting the poles. However, we have been provided with Rs 50 lakh only for the purpose and more funds are required to commence shifting.”At present, a single road with double carriageway connects the city to Bisalpur and it is just four metres wide.
