PILIBHIT: A 30-year-old man was allegedly bludgeoned to death when he tried to save his 18-year-old sister from two harassers who were physically assaulting her in Gidhaur village under Neuria police station on Tuesday evening.According to Duliram, deceased’s father and the complainant, Jeet Singh, alias, Jeeta (28), was harassing his daughter when she was on her way home from agricultural field, and when she protested Jeet started assaulting her physically.“After some villagers informed my son Virendra about the incident, he rushed to the spot and tried to stop Jeet. Virendra collapsed after he was hit on his head by a heavy object and the accused fled the spot,” said Duli Ram.Virendra was rushed to the community health centre in Neuria by his father and other villagers, but doctors proclaimed him dead on arrival.Superintendent of police Manoj Kumar Sonkar, who inspected the spot, said key accused Jeet was arrested and an FIR was registered against him and his brother Mahesh under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).“Police are conducting raids to arrest Mahesh, said SP.SP added that police are conducting investigation and if the allegation of harassment is found true, relevant sections will be added to the FIR.
