Woman, two sons among four get life term for murder

Pilibhit: A woman and her two sons are among four who have been handed down life imprisonment three and a half years after they killed her brother-in-law.While sentencing the convicts on Wednesday, district and sessions judge VS Patel also slapped a penalty of Rs 6,000 on each of them.Pyare Lal, 65, of Dandia Bhisaudi village under Jahanabad police station was killed outside his house by his elder brother’s wife Vidya Devi, her two sons Rakesh and Janaki Prasad and her nephew Virendra Kumar of the same village around 10.30pm on June 28, 2015.The accused were booked under sections 302 (murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), following a complaint lodged by victim’s son Om Prakash.The complainant stated that he had not invited his cousins and their mother in the wedding of his younger brother Ram Kumar in April, 2015 owing to their addiction to liquor and wrangling habit, which created a rift between the two families.Government counsel Dhirendra Mishra, who appeared for the prosecution, told TOI that the convicts had beaten Pyare Lal and abused him publicly a few days before his murder, following which he had lodged an FIR against them at Jahanabad police station.
