I-T dept detects Rs 3.5 cr unrecorded transactions by pvt hosp

Pilibhit: A team of income tax department headed by the joint commissioner, SB Singh, detected unrecorded business and medical transactions of a renowned private hospital in Pilibhit to the tune of Rs 3.5 crore. These transactions had intentionally been concealed with intention of evading income tax, as per officials. In case the same were not projected in the annual income tax return of the hospital, the owners of it would be brought under the ambit of penalty,” the IT commissioner said. The concerned evidences had been taken by the team in its possession, Agarwal told.“The hospital authorities would now be made to pay tax on the concealed transactions. The team succeeded in unearthing the financial irregularity during a survey raid that was conducted on Thursday which lasted for hours.According to the principal commissioner of income tax of Bareilly division, Shishir Agarwal, the survey raid at SS Hospital in Pilibhit was conducted by a 15-member team after the department had received certain leads that the hospital authorities were not showing the entire sale of medicines at hospital’s medical shop as well as medical fees being charged under various heads.A close examination of hospital’s records and computers, concerned bills and documents helped the survey team unearth taxable transactions worth Rs 3.5 crore which had not been posted in financial documents.
