25-year-old struck by lightning dies

Pilibhit: A 25-year-old villager, identified as Arvind, was killed after he was struck by a bolt of lightning at Raipur village under Barkhera police station at around 2 pm on Friday. Arvind is survived by his parents, wife, and an 18-month-old son besides an unmarried sister. The formalities for reparation would be initiated as soon as the post-mortem report was received, he said. His father, Lala Ram, is a marginal farmer and the family has to work as daily wagers to make ends meet.SDM Dubey told TOI that the legal heir of the deceased would be provided with Rs 4 lakh as compensation under the relief scheme for natural calamity. A daily wager, he was returning home on a sugarcane-laden trolley after harvesting the crop of a local farmer.Sub divisional magistrate of Pilibhit circle Saurabh Dubey has inspected the spot.According to gram pradhan Ramesh Chandra, there were five to six people sitting on the tractor as well as on the trolley but only Arvind was struck by lightning and died on the spot.He was the only son of his parents.
