Shahjahanpur: An FIR has been registered against a doctor couple from Shahjahanpur for allegedly showing utter negligence during the treatment of a pregnant woman, which led to her miscarriage and her condition became life-threatening.The FIR was registered at Sadar Bazar police station after the woman’s differently-abled husband sat on a hunger strike outside a private hospital for the last two days.Complainant Pankaj Singh had admitted his wife to a private hospital where she was operated upon by doctors KK Singh and his wife Maninder Kaur. However, the doctors conducted the operation carelessly which led to a child miscarriage. An artery carrying blood to the intestine also ruptured. Pankaj had to take his wife to Lucknow for a more thorough treatment because of their negligence.Dr KK Singh runs the KK hospital and maternity hospital in Chinnor area of Shahjahanpur. Pankaj had admitted his wife in the hospital in the first week of March. However, he had to take his wife to an advanced medical centre in Lucknow.Her treatment was completed in Lucknow, where Pankaj had to spend over Rs 2 lakh. Upon returning home, Pankaj made a complaint to local police, but no FIR was registered. So, he was forced to sit on a hunger strike outside the KK hospital premises, since Friday.The issue came to the notice of district administration and local police on Saturday. Thereafter, SHO Kiranpal Singh met Pankaj and registered an FIR against the doctor couple.Pankaj told TOI, “Dr KK Singh and his wife Maninder Kaur had put my wife’s life at severe risk. Their negligence had already costs me my child and all my savings which I had to use for saving my wife.”Circle officer Brahmapal Singh said, “We have registered an FIR under IPC sections 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act of endangering someone’s life or personal safety) and 313 (Causing miscarriage without woman’s consent) against the hospital administration and both the doctors. Further action would be taken on the basis of the investigation.”
