Pilibhit: A joint team of Puranpur Kotwali police station, surveillance and the special weapons and tactics cell on Saturday caught three persons, including a 14-year-old boy, while solving the murder mystery of a 32-year-old contract farmer, Mahesh Kashyap. Kashyap was murdered on March 24.According to police, the three accused have confessed to their crime. Two were sent to jail while proceedings were on to send the minor to Kishor Sadan at Bareilly with the permission of the juvenile justice board.Producing two of the three accused in a press conference on Saturday, superintendent of police Manoj Kumar Sonkar said that body of the deceased, resident of village Jatpura under Puranpur Kotwali police station, was recovered from a sugarcane field on March 25.A named FIR in the matter had been lodged by deceased’s elder brother, Arvind Kashyap, against three persons, Mangesh Mishra, Midhai Lal and Shailendra of the same village. The deceased had taken Mangesh Mishra’s agricultural land on rent for wheat cultivation, the SP told.Unveiling the actual reason behind the murder, he said that the deceased had beaten Midhai Lal and his relative, Sarvesh Kashyap in July 2018 over some dispute related to the claim of ownership of a gram samaj plot in village.Sarvesh, a resident of village Shahpur Dandi under Devrania police station in Bareilly, was staying with Midhai Lal. Since then Sarvesh was planning to kill Mahesh.On March 24, Sarvesh came to village Jatpura along with his colleague, Indrajeet Gangwar and invited Mahesh through his maid’s minor son to consume liquor at night. The three accused reached deceased’s agricultural field at night on March 24, offered him wine and when he was absolutely drunk, they hit him with pole-axe on his head and then escaped, the SP disclosed.The police have also recovered the pole axe following leads given by the accused. This revelation saved three innocent persons, who were named in the initial FIR by the complainant, from going behind the bars, the SP added.
