Unabated stray bull attacks claim two more lives in west UP

Pilibhit/Shahjahanpur: Stray bull attacks continue unabated in different parts of western Uttar Pradesh (UP) as two more deaths of elderly men were reported in Pilibhit and Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday.The number of stray bull attacks has risen significantly in the last few months. However, no action was taken.Stray bull attacks have claimed three lives in Lakhimpur Kheri district since January 28. While in Pilibhit, a 55-year-old petrol pump manager died after sustaining multiple injuries from a stray bull attack. This is the fifth death caused by stray bull attack in four months.According to local commuters, Shukla lost control of his bike when a bull suddenly charged towards his vehicle. In Bheera block of Lakhimpur Kheri district, a 75-year-old man was killed by a raging bull when he was on his way to a field on Saturday evening.

In Bheera block of Lakhimpur Kheri district, a 75-year-old man was killed by a raging bull when he was on his way to a field on Saturday evening. While in Pilibhit, a 55-year-old petrol pump manager died after sustaining multiple injuries from a stray bull attack. Navneet Shukla, the petrol pump manager, who succumbed to his injuries at a district hospital on Sunday morning, was riding a motorcycle from Ghungchai to Puranpur on Saturday evening.Shukla was first admitted to Puranpur community health centre and later shifted to Pilibhit. The deceased was a resident of Husainapur village and was currently living in Kayasthan locality of Puranpur. He was working as a manager at Uma Shankar petrol filling station in Ghungchai village and had to daily drive from his home to workplace on a bike. This is the fifth death caused by stray bull attack in four months.According to local commuters, Shukla lost control of his bike when a bull suddenly charged towards his vehicle. He immediately fell down and sustained injuries. A police team then rushed to the spot and took him to a hospital.In Lakhimpur Kheri, Naththu Lal, a local resident was attacked by a stray bull which, on Wednesday, had injured three more persons - Janki Prasad, Lalta Prasad and their neighbour Ladeti Devi. The latest incident in Kheri was reported from Haraiya village in Bheera. Naththu Lal was repeatedly assaulted by the bull even as locals tried to rescue him. The locals had already alerted the district administration after the earlier attack. However, no action was taken.Stray bull attacks have claimed three lives in Lakhimpur Kheri district since January 28. After Saturday’s attack, the bull in question was captured and shifted to a temporary cow shelter by the district administration with the help of locals. Naththu Lal’s body was handed over to his family members after conducting an autopsy.SHO Bheera police station said, “This was an unfortunate incident as the elderly man was unaware of the raging bull who didn’t give him an opportunity to escape. We had sent the body for autopsy as such a report is required for compensation. The bull has been shifted to a cow shelter.”UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s order to shift all stray cattle to temporary or permanent shelter houses is yet to be implemented despite its January 10 deadline.
