A girl who had eloped with a youth from another community in Bareilly on October 17 was found by police on October 23 appeared before courts on Tuesday.
The girl confronted the court that she is a major and left her house with the youth on her own will and was not kidnapped.
However she told the police that she wants to return home and live with her parents. Earlier the police had booked youth and several others for abducting the girl. Some members of the saffron outfits vandalized the Quila police station on October 20th claiming it was love jihad.
The couple was recovered from a hotel in Ajmer district, Rajasthan where police had found a fake Adhaar Card of the girl and along with 3.18lac in cash. The cash was reportedly taken from girl’s house and the police had booked youth under the IPC section of forgery and Robbery. He was sent to jail on October 23.
Bareilly SSP stated ‘’the girl has given statement to the court that she went with the youth on her own and now she wants to go back to her parents. On the court’s order her custody has been handed over to the police. Investigation in the case registered by her father will continue’’.
