As my eyesight is weak and I was nervous, I signed a few affidavits and other documents. I am not representing any party in the Audi case ," he said.Ashutosh Kumar, DIG (Bareilly range), said, "We will probe the matter and act accordingly."

Bareilly: Syed Ayesha , wife of Syed Imtiyaz Qadri who impersonated as Ishaq Ahmad and surrendered in court claiming that he (Ishaq) was at the wheels of the Audi at the time of the January 28 accident in Ghaziabad, met the deputy inspector general (police) on Friday and complained that a local lawyer had tricked her into signing some documents. Though the lawyer refuted her charges, the DIG assured her that he will investigate the matter. On the night of January 28, the Audi had hit an auto in Ghaziabad, killing four passengers in the three-wheeler. A person had later turned up in court with Ishaq Ahmad's licence and claimed to be driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Later it had been discovered, as reported by TOI, that Ishaq was unaware of the matter and Qadri had used a copy of his licence to appear in court.Qadri has since been arrested by Mumbai police. He told TOI that he did not know what an Audi car looks like, and that he had never worked for Rawat, a neurosurgeon at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.Ayesha, a class X dropout, claimed that just before her husband was arrested by Mumbai police, the couple had been flooded with calls from Harish Bhatia, a Bareilly-based lawyer. "Bhatia told me that he will take up the case of Qadri and assured me that he will be released from jail within 15 days. As my eyesight is weak and I was nervous, I signed a few affidavits and other documents. However, when I asked for the copies of the documents, the advocate refused to give. It seems that he has made me sign papers claiming that my husband was at the wheels at the time of the accident," she alleged. When TOI contacted advocate Harish Bhatia, he denied the allegations. "I have not met Ayesha and didn't make her sign any documents. I am not representing any party in the Audi case ," he said.Ashutosh Kumar, DIG (Bareilly range), said, "We will probe the matter and act accordingly."
