Plus a dossier of such criminals is maintained so that victims can identify in these cases and aid the investigation in the aftermath of the incident,” said Chandra Prakash, senior superintendent of police (SSP) in Badaun.A total of 1,369 cases of theft were reported in 2017 in the first four months of this year while 1,299 cases were reported in 2016 and 1088 in 2015 during the same period. Cops claimed that apart from putting a manual surveillance on seasoned criminals, it is imperative to keep track of young ones who are rearing to join the world of crime. “We go for surprise vehicle checks as most of the young culprits commit a crime and flee on stolen motorcycles. We land up on crucial leads in incidents of loot and robbery during such drives,” SSP Badaun Chandra Prakash said.
