SP student wing sees red over defacing of Lohia statue

“We have filed a complaint against anonymous persons for defacing the statue in a bid to create disturbance on the campus. This act was intentionally done and the college has no explanation on the failure of the round-the-clock security,” Yadav told TOI.College authorities assured the student leaders that strict action would be taken against the security agency looking after the premises. Bareilly: Following the discovery of a defaced statue of Samajwadi patron Ram Manohar Lohia at Bareilly College on Wednesday, a group of Samajwadi Party’s student wing activists, led by district president of Samajwadi Chatra Sabha Hridesh Yadav, created a ruckus on the campus on Thursday.The student leaders laid a siege to the premises demanding that college authorities including principal Ajay Sharma take strict action against the culprits.The agitated students wondered how college security was breached and the statue defaced by mischievous elements.“We were informed that the statue was smeared with mud in spite of it being protected by an iron-grill cage.
