When Army men wrestled it out in Bareilly

"Jitendra Kumar (BCCL/ Sanjeev Gupta)Major General RK Bhardwaj, COS HQ UB Area, said, "The wrestling bouts were quite interesting to watch and there was a close competition between all the six commands. For this, we had been following a super-intense workout and were practicing very hard, which finally paid off. The boys were seen pushing themselves to get out of their comfort zone- it was a wonderful effort.

The four-day Army Inter Command Wrestling Championship 2017, held recently at Mukhtiyar Gymnasium hall of JAT Regimental Centre (JRC) Bareilly , saw nearly 100 wrestlers from all six commands of Indian Army participating with great zeal. And after several wrestling bouts consecutively for four days, HQ Central Command successfully defended its title and won the championship with 75 points against HQ Southern Command which had 71 points and HQ Western Command with 39 points.Sandeep (left) and Rohit (right) (BCCL/ Sanjeev Gupta)Rahul, one of the wrestlers from the winning team, HQ Central Command , said, "It was a tough competition but has been outstanding. For this, we had been following a super-intense workout and were practicing very hard, which finally paid off. The interaction with fellow athletes during the tournament was also an enriching experience."Jitendra Kumar (BCCL/ Sanjeev Gupta)Major General RK Bhardwaj, COS HQ UB Area, said, "The wrestling bouts were quite interesting to watch and there was a close competition between all the six commands. Their wrestling techniques in free style as well as Greco Roman clearly showed the kind of intense training these athletes must have gone through.
