Doc failed to operate oxygen cylinder, DM orders probe

When the DM asked a doctor to operate the oxygen cylinder, he purportedly failed to do so. The DM summoned Dr Upadhyay and asked him to operate the oxygen cylinder, which he failed to operate.The DM also found the boundary wall of the hospital broken and buffaloes of the watchman grazing on the premises and pigeons kept inside rooms of the hospital.Awasthi told TOI, “It’s a matter of grave concern that a doctor is unable to operate the oxygen cylinder. Rampur: During surprise inspections of hospitals and dispensaries across district, the district magistrate Shiv Shay Awasthi on Wednesday reportedly found buffaloes and pigeons instead of patients at one of the hospitals. Following which the DM ordered a probe into both matters.After the Gorakhpur medical college tragedy, the district authorities have swung into action.At Dhamora Swasthya Kendra, Awasthi found superintendent in charge Dr Rajesh Upadhyay a and six other employees missing from their duties. I have ordered the chief medical officer to carry out an inquiry into the negligence at the hospital, and sought a detailed report within a weak.”The DM also ordered cut in the salaries of Dr Upadhyay; lab technicians Sonu Sharma and Santosh Sharma; maternity nurses Yasmeen and Rajni; and ward boy Umar Wali, whom the DM found absent from their duties.
