Five women dies in road accident

""Five women died on the spot while 75 others, including children and men, were injured. Amroha: Five women pilgrims died and 50 others were seriously injured after the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling collided head on with a speeding truck near Budhanpur village under the jurisdiction of Didoli police station here on Thursday morning. After filling the tank at a gas station near Budhanpur village on national highway-24, the vehicle was approaching the highway when a speeding truck hit the trolley head on. The injured were immediately rushed to the district hospital. Many of them were discharged after giving first aid on Wednesday evening.

Police said all the 80 pilgrims on the tractor-trolley belong to Katghar locality of Moradabad district, and that they were on their way to Garh Mukteshwar in Hapur district to take the holy dip on river Ganga.Speaking to TOI, Amroha sub-divisional magistrate Yashwardhan Shrivatsava said, "The pilgrims were heading towards Garh Mukteshwar on a tractor-trolley. After filling the tank at a gas station near Budhanpur village on national highway-24, the vehicle was approaching the highway when a speeding truck hit the trolley head on.""Five women died on the spot while 75 others, including children and men, were injured. The injured were immediately rushed to the district hospital. Many of them were discharged after giving first aid on Wednesday evening. 15 other pilgrims who were seriously injured were referred to the Trauma Centre at Meerut," said Shrivatsava.The SDM said kin of those killed and those who were injured will get compensation after the Moradabad district administration sends a report to the state government.The deceased were identified as Saroj (40), Chameli ( 55), Gulabo (32), Chandrawati ( 35) and Omwati (55) — all residents of Katghar, said sources.
