Pilibhit: After failing to get help from district hospital staff in shifting her ailing mother to doctor’s chamber on Thursday, the daughter of an 80-year-old woman made her sit on a plastic bag and dragged her to the doctor’s room.Khursheed Jahan, a resident of Naugvan Pakariya village on the outskirts of Pilibhit city, said her mother slipped and got her hip bone fractured.Jahan said, “I pleaded hospital staff to manage a stretcher for my mother (Kishwari Beghum), but in vain. As no one paid any heed to my requests, I was left with no option, but to drag her to the doctor’s chamber.”Asked about the incident, chief medical superintendent, Dr RP Singh denied that Jahaan had sought assistance from the hospital staff. “As soon as the matter came to my notice, I immediately provided a wheelchair to the elderly woman, who was thoroughly examined by orthopaedic surgeon,” said CMS.“The woman is very old, thus a surgery to fix her fractured bone is not possible due to certain medical complications attribute to old age. The patient has, therefore, been kept on conservative medical treatment,” he added.
