Krishnaswamy, a renowned name in Kannada theatre. “The intention is to recognise and invite major experiments in theatre from all parts of the country and creating a forum for discussions with its directors and technicians. This year, we are giving special attention to young talent in theatre. Around 50 artistes will be recognised during the festival. We want youngsters to join and continue in theatre,” said Vittal B., president on Ranga Niranthara. Women will also get a spotlight at the event. The festival will feature six plays, of which three plays to be staged are directed by women. The festival will also feature a series of storytelling sessions. These sessions will be conducted exclusively by women storytellers. The festival will begin with rendition of Kannada theatre songs by theatre artistes and actor Disha Ramesh. There will also be screening of short films and introduction of young theatre artistes and technicians. D.K. Chowta, eminent playwright, and Rajendra Chennai, critique, scholar and writer, will participate.
