more-in A 58-year-old assistant sub-inspector allegedly committed suicide in the City Armed Reserve grounds in Adugodi on Saturday night soon after his shift ended. ASI Dayananda Sagar left behind a note saying he was taking this step as he could not find his son who has been missing for months. Dayananda had been deployed near the residence of former prime minister and JD(S) leader H.D. Deve Gowda in Padmanabhanagar. After completing his shift around 9 p.m., he returned to the CAR office in Adugodi, changed out of his uniform and hanged himself. He had only a few months left before retirement. According to the police, Dayananda’s elder son Ganesh Sagar, 29, used to run a coffee shop in Jayanagar. However, he recently incurred huge losses, which resulted in the assistant sub-inspector pulling him up for his irresponsibility in financial matters. Following this argument, which took place in February, Ganesh left the house. Dayananda and his wife thought he would come back, and waited for his return. But when there was no sign of him for days and they were unable to contact him, they filed a missing person complaint and also began searching for their son. On Saturday night, the younger son Kiran Sagar was unable to contact Dayananda on his cellphone. “Worried, he went to the CAR office and saw Dayananda’s bike in the campus. He entered the office and saw the body of his father,” said the police. The Adugodi police have taken up a case of unnatural death. “We are trying to locate his son on a priority basis,” the police added.
