The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) will be using Autodesk Building Information Modeling (BIM) for designing and planning construction of Terminal 2 (T2). The second phase – still in the planning stage – will be built to cater to an additional 20 million passengers per annum. The first phase of this terminal will cater to 25 million passengers per annum (MPPA). According to a press release, the BIM, which is a 3D design construction technology, will ensure access of all information from design, fabrication, and construction to operations and maintenance. The project will be completed in phases, with Phase 1, covering 255,000 square metres, expected to be operational by March 31, 2021.
