BENGALURU: A visually-impaired couple’s dream to buy their 8-year-old daughter a bicycle became a reality much earlier than they thought. A few good men got together and delivered a bicycle within 24 hours, leaving the parents and kid beaming in delight.The story unfolded when financial planner and Whitefield resident Nagaraj Basarakod posted information about Nagesh Murthy and Sudha and their child Manjushree. The couple sells lemons for a living. During a casual conversation with the couple, Basarakod heard they were struggling to buy a bicycle for their daughter.He posted their story on the Facebook page of Whitefield Rising on Tuesday morning and requested Sampath Ramanujam of Anvaya Foundation , which collects unused and discarded bicycles and gives it to the poor and needy, to help the couple. Ramanujam alerted different cycling groups and the ZestPedal Cycling Group responded quickly. Cyclist Guruprasad spoke to the couple and confirmed that it was a genuine desire. The search for a cycle ended at the Marathahalli cycle collection centre.Another cyclist, Girish Kumar, transported the cycle in his car to Sampath. The cycle was repaired overnight and delivered to Manjushree in the presence of her parents. “I called the parents and told them about the cycle and they were very excited. The child had a huge smile while receiving the cycle,” Ramanujam added.For #TeamAnvaya and Zest Pedal cyclists, seeing Manjushree and her parent's happy was worth all the effort.
