more-in An armed gang allegedly abducted a 29-year-old software engineer in a car on the pretext of offering him a drop to his home and snatched his valuables while driving him around the city for two hours. The victim, Anil Togaru, was dumped at the Electronics City bus stop around 4.30 a.m. The gang allegedly took his gold chain, ring and forced him to withdraw cash from two ATMs in Jigani and Electronics City. Anil had finished his night shift and was waiting for transport at the Ecospace bus stop in Bellandur around 1.30 a.m. to return his home at Munnekolala. A cab approached with three men seated inside. The driver offered to drop him home. With no other option available, Anil got inside the cab. When the driver took a detour at Kadubisanahalli, he tried to stop him. One of the other passengers kept a dagger near Anil’s neck and told him to take off his gold chain and ring. The two other passengers searched him for valuables and took his wallet which contained some cash and two ATM cards. They instructed the driver to take the cab to Jigani and stopped at an isolated ATM kiosk where Anil was forced to withdraw cash. The trio then forced Anil back into the cab and drove to another ATM at Electronics City where they forced him to withdraw cash using the second debit card. After confirming that Anil did not have any valuables left, they dropped him at a bus stop and sped away. Anil managed to note down the number of the vehicle and filed a complaint with the Marathahalli police later on Saturday.
