Man murders wife, surrenders

A man after allegedly murdering his wife turned himself in at the jurisdictional police station at Rajagaopal Nagar on Thursday night. Marital discord set in after Jagadish suspected his wife of having an extra marital affair, said the police. The deceased, Soumya, 29, also was from the same village and worked at a garment factory in the city. At midnight, he walked into Rajagopal Nagar Police station and confessed to the crime. He then fled, but the police, alerted by neighbours, rushed to the house and began searching for him.

The accused, Jagadish, 45, is from Piriyapattana, Chamarajanagar district. He had been employed at a packaging unit in Peenya. The deceased, Soumya, 29, also was from the same village and worked at a garment factory in the city. The couple were married for over a decade and had a 10-year-old son. Marital discord set in after Jagadish suspected his wife of having an extra marital affair, said the police. On Thursday night, he hit her after a bitter altercation over the issue and murdered her. He then fled, but the police, alerted by neighbours, rushed to the house and began searching for him. At midnight, he walked into Rajagopal Nagar Police station and confessed to the crime.
