BJP leaders join chorus for dubbing

Kannada Grahakara Okkuta, which is leading a movement on bringing dubbed content into Kannada, has begun a Twitter campaign appealing to people to tweet with the hashtag #MowgliInKannada demanding the Hollywood film be dubbed in Kannada. BJP general secretary and MLA C.T. Ravi has supported the move by tweeting: “#MowgliInKannada is not just a hashtag to gain publicity. It is the ardent desire of Kannadigas to watch something they like in their own language. By taking a chameleon-like stand on the dubbing issue, a section of Kannada film industry is working against people’s interest.” However, he has clarified that supporting dubbing is his personal stand and not connected with that of the party. If you can’t make better films, who are you to stop people from watching other language movies in Kannada?” A few days ago, pro-dubbing activists had written to the management of all Kannada entertainment channels asking them to broadcast dubbed serials, films and other entertainment content.
