more-in A 65-year-old woman was allegedly abused and pushed out of a BMTC bus when she requested the driver to drop her at the bus stop instead of asking her to alight on the road near the Kempegowda bus terminal at Majesitc on Thursday. Ranjitha Bharathi, a resident of Ulsoor and general secretary of the Karnataka State Human Rights Association, had gone to K.C. General Hospital on that day and took the BMTC bus to get back home. She said that around 2.45 p.m., the bus crew stopped the vehicle outside the Majestic bus stand and asked the passengers to get down. Ms. Bharathi said she was unable to walk as her footwear had broken and requested the driver to drop her at the designated bus stop. She alleged that the driver began to shout at her while the conductor asked her to get out. When she objected to their behaviour, the conductor pushed her out of the bus, she alleged, and added that she fell down and sustained minor bruises. “Though many people were watching the incident, no one objected to the conductor’s behaviour,” she said. She then went to the BMTC office and filed a complaint, but officials allegedly ignored her, after which she went to the Upparpet police station and filed a complaint. The police registered an FIR against the conductor and the driver. The police have summoned the conductor and the driver for questioning.
