Bengaluru: Lalbagh shuts doors on plastic bottles

“We have banned sale of plastic water bottles at Hopcoms outlets inside the Gardens and restricted the same from hawkers there as well. People, however, can bring water in tupperware and metal bottles,” he added.Chandrashekar said that visitors should not enter the Gardens with any kind of plastic bottles or materials. In coming days, violators have to cough up a fine of Rs 100 to Rs 500. We request people to cooperate with us in keeping the Gardens clean and green,” he added. “We have deployed a team of women staff to implement the plastic ban.

BENGALURU: The Horticulture Department , which has intensified its drive against plastic material at Lalbagh Botanical Gardens , has said a strict NO to plastic bottles and other food packets made of plastic.The move comes after the authorities notice that visitors continued to throw plastic water bottles and other things haphazardly on the lake side and other areas of the Park.MR Chandrashekar, deputy director (lalbagh), Horticulture department, told TOI that there are 12 drinking water units, including a RO water dispenser, spread across the park to meet the drinking water needs of visitors. “We have banned sale of plastic water bottles at Hopcoms outlets inside the Gardens and restricted the same from hawkers there as well.
