BENGALURU: An 18-year-old girl from Kodigehalli in north Bengaluru declared brain dead after an unfortunate incident has given life to two kidney patients and a liver patient.The girl, Ramya A, studying B Com in a city-based college died an unnatural death at her house on September 14. We were told that her organs could be used for other needy patients. Her heart valves were sent to Narayana Hrudayalaya and corneas sent to Narayana Netralaya. Ï didn’t want to cremate her organs that could bring save the lives of other patients.

BENGALURU: An 18-year-old girl from Kodigehalli in north Bengaluru declared brain dead after an unfortunate incident has given life to two kidney patients and a liver patient.The girl, Ramya A, studying B Com in a city-based college died an unnatural death at her house on September 14. The girl had not gone to to college and was staying home when the family noticed that health condition was deteriorating.Ramya was first taken to a nearby hospital in Hebbal and further rushed to Aster CMI hospital where she was declared brain dead.The family plunged into mourning with the loss of their daughter but gave consent for donating her organs.“We rushed to her to a nearby hospital around 12. 30pm. She was further shifted to another hospital, where she was declared brain dead. We were told that her organs could be used for other needy patients. Ï didn’t want to cremate her organs that could bring save the lives of other patients. We agreed for organ donation. So far we had heard about organ donation saving lives and never thought my daughter would be a donor one day,” the girl’s father Anand DK told TOI.Ramya’s liver was used for a 38-year-old man and left kidney for a 26-year-old man in Aster CMI hospital. Her right kidney was transplanted to 59-year-old man in Fortis hospital. Her heart valves were sent to Narayana Hrudayalaya and corneas sent to Narayana Netralaya.
