BENGALURU: Chrysalis High on Kadugodi Road has become an island of sorts after the recent downpour left the only approach road to the school inundated with rainwater, knee deep at some points, on Monday. Young kids are leaving home as early as at 6.30am and reaching school only by 9-9.30am due the pathetic state of the road,” said Smriti Marwaha, whose son studies at Chrysalis High. It’s difficult for parents to drop their kids to school. “As soon as it rains, several stretches of the road are flooded. The school will provide shuttle service from Chaitanya-Ananya till the water level comes down.”Parents said the problem recurs every time it pours and vented their ire against BBMP on Twitter.

BENGALURU: Chrysalis High on Kadugodi Road has become an island of sorts after the recent downpour left the only approach road to the school inundated with rainwater, knee deep at some points, on Monday. The worried management promptly asked parents to bring their children up to a point about a kilometre away, from where they were taken to the campus in shuttle buses The notice to parents on September 17 read, “Due to heavy rain, there is waterlogging in front of Chaitanya-Ananya (a residential enclave). The school will provide shuttle service from Chaitanya-Ananya till the water level comes down.”Parents said the problem recurs every time it pours and vented their ire against BBMP on Twitter. “As soon as it rains, several stretches of the road are flooded. It’s difficult for parents to drop their kids to school. This is a perennial problem and despite several complaints, nothing has been done to fix it,” said Tinu Cherian Abraham, who was among those who took to Twitter.Highlighting the perilous condition of the road leading to Chrysalis High, Raghunath Reddy, an IT professional and parent of a student, said, “Every time we go for a parent-teacher meeting, we think why are we risking our daughter’s life. The schoolteachers are efficient, but the road condition is compelling me to take my child out of the school.”According to local residents and parents, half the stretch comes under a gram panchayat and the rest — which is completely broken and pockmarked with potholes — is managed by BBMP.“The road is slippery and vehicles can skid any time. The lives of our little ones are at stake but the Palike is waiting for a tragedy to jolt it into action. Young kids are leaving home as early as at 6.30am and reaching school only by 9-9.30am due the pathetic state of the road,” said Smriti Marwaha, whose son studies at Chrysalis High.
