The Jayanagar police booked two representatives of a private telecom company for allegedly digging up a newly laid footpath at South End Circle on Tuesday. The duo had not only violated the rules, but also damaged property worth ?15 lakh, he said. According to Niranjan, the duo had dug up over 100 metres of a footpath, damaged the ornamental plants and the sprinkler system on the newly laid footpath opposite Kanteerava Park near South End Circle. The Jayanagar police is now trying to track down the duo. The duo had taken up the work to lay an optical fibre cable (OFC) in the area without the required permission from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.

Based on a complaint by Niranjan D.M., superintendent of the Horticulture Department (South Division), the Jayanagar police booked Jayachandra and Shankar Ganesh, who have been charged under various sections of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. According to Niranjan, the duo had dug up over 100 metres of a footpath, damaged the ornamental plants and the sprinkler system on the newly laid footpath opposite Kanteerava Park near South End Circle. The duo had taken up the work to lay an optical fibre cable (OFC) in the area without the required permission from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. The duo had not only violated the rules, but also damaged property worth ?15 lakh, he said. The Jayanagar police is now trying to track down the duo.
