Suspect jumps to death from police station

A 36-year-old habitual offender allegedly jumped to his death from the second floor of the Amruthahlli police station near Hebbal during interrogation on Thursday. A senior police officer said that Satish had been brought to the station at 9.30 a.m. Four members of the crime staff were interrogating him about a house burglary. Around 12.15 p.m., he pushed one of the staff, ran towards the balcony and jumped, the officer said. He was staying alone in the city, often shifting houses in Bagalkote, Ramanagara and Magadi, police said. The policemen immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Hebbal where he was declared brought dead.

He was staying alone in the city, often shifting houses in Bagalkote, Ramanagara and Magadi, police said. A senior police officer said that Satish had been brought to the station at 9.30 a.m. Four members of the crime staff were interrogating him about a house burglary. He was suspected of committing theft in a government employee’s house two months ago. Around 12.15 p.m., he pushed one of the staff, ran towards the balcony and jumped, the officer said. The policemen immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Hebbal where he was declared brought dead. A case of unnatural death has been registered. Satish, who was involved in over 20 house burglary cases in and around the city, was earlier arrested by the Tilaknagar, Kodigehalli and Basaveshwarnagara police. The body was shifted for a post-mortem. The police are trying to trace his relatives.
