Reduced frequency of trains causes chaos at Majestic Metro Station

An official said that during the peak hours, the BMRCL usually operates trains with a frequency 3.5 minutes but it changed schedule on Friday citing that it is a holiday and operated trains with five minutes frequency. A passenger said, “Trains were running with full capacity after 8.30 a.m. To clear the rush two empty trains were operated from Majestic. Road, during its inaugural trip on Friday evening from Baiyappanahalli to Kempegowda station at Majestic. However, passengers alleged that trains were operated with seven to eights minutes of gap.

Passengers travelling from Majestic to Baiyappanahalli were badly hit. Passengers were seen standing on staircases and escalators as there were no space left on the platform. Passengers were also arguing with metro staff for changing schedules without informing them in advance. An official said that during the peak hours, the BMRCL usually operates trains with a frequency 3.5 minutes but it changed schedule on Friday citing that it is a holiday and operated trains with five minutes frequency. However, passengers alleged that trains were operated with seven to eights minutes of gap. A passenger said, “Trains were running with full capacity after 8.30 a.m. To clear the rush two empty trains were operated from Majestic. I could see a huge crowd on the platform waiting for the trains even after that.” A senior official of the BMRCL said that three trains were operated from Majestic to clear the rush and frequency of trains increased to 3.5 minutes during peak hours.
