MANDYA: A Dalit woman was allegedly kidnapped by three men who wanted her to return to work as a bonded labourer on a farm at Bekkalale village, Maddur taluk. The incident was caught on camera. The footage shows the woman being dragged and bundled into a car even as she screams.Police say Janakamma and her husband Chinnatambi, from Tamil Nadu , were allegedly used as bonded labourers by Nagesh on his farm. The couple had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Nagesh a few years ago and could not repay the loan and Nagesh then forced them to work on his farm.A few months ago, the two, fed up with Nagesh’s taunts and insults, fled to Bekkalale village where they lived in hiding. Chinnatambi died a month ago and Nagesh, who was on the lookout for the couple, finally tracked down Janakamma.He asked her to return to his farm and continue working there, but Janakamma refused and pleaded with him to let her go. However, Nagesh refused to budge. Mandya SP Shivaprakash Devaraj said Nagesh was arrested while his accomplices are absconding.
