HC appoints military engineering, judicial services officers to verify BBMP’s pothole filling work

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice S.G. Pandit passed the order during the hearing of a PIL petition related to poor condition of the city’s roads. After summoning the head of MES in Bengaluru, Dinesh Agrawal, and KALSA Member-Secretary Uma M.G. to the court, the Bench asked the BBMP counsel to name any wards with “zero” potholes. The counsel, after taking instructions from BBMP officials present in the court, said that four wards each in Malleswaram and BBMP have “zero” potholes while pointing out that around 92-93% of the total potholes in the city have been filled during the past three days. The Court-commission will be inspecting the wards with “zero” potholes later this afternoon and evening to ascertain the present condition of the roads as well as the the quality of works undertaken. The Bench orally asked the government counsel to inform the City Police Commissioner to make required traffic arrangements to allow the commission to inspect the roads without causing inconvenience to the public.
