Mayor seeks guidance from her predecessors

Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun has turned to her predecessors for guidance. Ms. Mallikarjun told The Hindu that the interaction yielded several good suggestions, which she will try to implement during her one-year tenure. One of the suggestions was to retain the sanctity of the Kempegowda Awards by limiting the number of awardees. “Another suggestion was to ensure more saplings are planted across the city, as we have lost considerable green cover owing to various development projects,” she said. On Wednesday, she met former mayors to discuss various issues plaguing the city, including cleanliness and sanitation, solid waste management, maintenance of parks and playgrounds, increasing revenue collection, clearing encroachments on drains and improving coordination between different departments.
