SAI coach accused of molestation hangs to death

A Kabaddi coach at a Sports Authority of India (SAI) facility in Bengaluru accused of molesting a 13-year-old player and suspended pending inquiry was found dead hanging at a private lodge in Harihara, Davanagere on Monday. The coach, Rudrappa V Hosamani, allegedly molested a 13-year-old girl at the dressing room on October 9. After the victim raised an alarm, her parents had reached the facility in North Bengaluru, thrashed him and the SAI had suspended him the same day. Mr. Chennannavar said Hosamani has left behind a death note where he has said sorry to his family – wife and son, SAI and all his students for what he did. When their repeated calls to him went unheeded the lodge authorities called the police, who broke open the door to find him hanging.

A complaint was lodged against Hosamani under POCSO Act, 2012 at Jnanabharathi Police Station. Ravi D Chennannavar, DCP (West), said that Hosamani is now learnt to have checked into a lodge in Harihara town, Davanagere on Sunday morning and the hotel staff grew suspicious on Monday afternoon as he had not come out or opened the door ever since he boarded. When their repeated calls to him went unheeded the lodge authorities called the police, who broke open the door to find him hanging. Sources said that the body had already started decomposing, indicating that he may have ended his life on early Sunday itself. Mr. Chennannavar said Hosamani has left behind a death note where he has said sorry to his family – wife and son, SAI and all his students for what he did.
