BENGALURU: Two persons, including a minor, were arrested on charges of murdering a man at the Vijaynagar playground following an altercation over a cigarette Police took Vinay Kumar , 23, a resident of Kaveripura near Vijaynagar, and his minor accomplice into custody on Sunday. Another suspect, identified as Hemanth Kumar, is at large. Police said Vinay had stabbed Mahadev, a resident of Vijayanagar, who was looking out for a job, following a tiff.The entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera . The footage shows a man stabbing Mahadev several times in the chest with a knife.Police said Vinay had gone to a shop owned by Rajdeep Singh on Food Street around 5.30pm on Sunday and asked for a cigarette. “When Singh’s employee Chotu asked him to pay up, Vinay said he did not have cash and would pay via Paytm,” police said. “When Chotu said the shop had no Paytm facility and demanded cash, Vinay flew into a rage and slapped him. He then walked away.”Police said Chotu informed Singh about the incident, who with his friend Mahadev went looking for Vinay. They found him at the ground. “The two demanded Vinay pay up for the cigarette,” police said. “When he refused, Singh decided to take him to the police station to sort out the matter. Singh then asked Mahadev to hold on to Vinay till he brought his two-wheeler around.”As soon as Singh left, Vinay pulled a knife out of his pocket and stabbed Mahadev several times. Passersby caught Vinay and beat him up. Others rushed Mahadev to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
