BENGALURU: A 38-year-old business analyst with a private firm was arrested for allegedly murdering a 45-year-old woman and attempting to kill her husband and son in east Bengaluru on Saturday.Police said the accused Antony Anand Kumar, a resident of Byrathi, suspected that his wife had an affair with Bharath, 22, an autorickshaw driver staying in Kothanur.While Bharat and his father, Sanappa, 48, survived Antony’s attack, his mother, Savitramma, died. Police said Antony frequently fought with his wife over her alleged friendship with Bharat. On Saturday night, when Antony abused his wife, she called Bharat and informed him about the harassment.“Bharat rushed to Antony’s residence that night and tried to convince him that he had no relationship with his wife. But an unconvinced Antony thrashed Bharat and told him to leave his house. Bharat then reached his residence and took his parents to Antony’s house, hoping that they could make him see reason,” a police officer said.But Antony, who was carrying a knife, pounced on Bharat and his parents the minute he saw them entering his residence. “He was not ready to listen to them nd stabbed all three,” the officer said.He stabbed Savitramma in the chest and Bharat in the back and swung his knife at Sannappa’s hands. The trio was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where Savitramma was declared dead on arrival.Kothanur police have registered murder and attemptto-murder cases against Antony and arrested him.(Clockwise from top left) Antony, Bharat, Sanappa and Savitramma TNN
