4 youths going for friend’s b'day die in accident

Minutes after the MUV crossed the Trumpet Interchange on KIA Road, it entered a poorly lit stretch. Their friends Hemath, 24 (who was at the wheel), Ajith, 23, Bharath, 22 and Avinash, 23, the birthday boy, were injured in the mishap.Madhu, who was driving the Innova, his brother Manoj and their friend Indhudhar too sustained severe injuries. The survivors have been admitted in three private hospitals in Devanahalli town and a few of them are critical, they added.Preliminary probe revealed Indhudhar, who runs a hotel near Nandi Hills, got a call from his employees, saying some people were creating trouble in the hotel.

BENGALURU: Four youths were killed and seven others injured after a multi-utility vehicle ( MUV ) hit the van they were travelling in near Kannamangalapalya Gate , Devanahalli, on KIA Road on Tuesday night.The deceased, all flower decorators from RT Nagar, were heading towards Nandi Hills to celebrate a friend’s birthday when the MUV rear-ended their Maruti Omni. Sundaresh, 22, Venkatesh, 24, Satish, 24 and Vikas, 23 were all residents of Cholanayakanahalli near RT Nagar. Their friends Hemath, 24 (who was at the wheel), Ajith, 23, Bharath, 22 and Avinash, 23, the birthday boy, were injured in the mishap.Madhu, who was driving the Innova, his brother Manoj and their friend Indhudhar too sustained severe injuries. The brothers are residents of Horamavu.Police said the incident occurred around midnight and all the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where four of them were declared dead on arrival. The survivors have been admitted in three private hospitals in Devanahalli town and a few of them are critical, they added.Preliminary probe revealed Indhudhar, who runs a hotel near Nandi Hills, got a call from his employees, saying some people were creating trouble in the hotel. Madhu failed to notice the car ahead and rammed into it.While Madhu sustained severe chest injuries, his brother Manoj fractured his leg; Indhudhar sustained minor injuries.While both the vehicles have been seized for further investigation, the bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem at Akash Hospital in Devanahalli.
