Frustrated over the threatening calls, the victim has blocked the accused’s phone numbers and unknown callers. The accused has claimed that he knows where all the misused money is being invested by the manager. When the caller was asked to meet the manager in person, he is alleged to have refused and continued to blackmail the manager. The calls appear to be internet calls that have been made using a website. The accused, claiming to be calling from, has stated that the party funds are being misused by the manager who also reportedly looks after the party’s accounts.

The accused, claiming to be calling from, has stated that the party funds are being misused by the manager who also reportedly looks after the party’s accounts. The accused has claimed that he knows where all the misused money is being invested by the manager. All the caller wants is for the manager to ‘admit’ to committing the fraud, and he will then back off from blackmailing or threatening him.When the victim blocked the numbers from which the calls were made, the accused then started calling on the manager’s wife’s mobile phone and his residence phone.When none of the calls were attended to, the accused then called a party office worker on his mobile phone, telling him to ask his manager to answer his phone calls or face the consequences. Unable to bear the blackmail and the threatening calls, the manager has knocked on the doors of the police to trace the accused.67-year-oldalias Javaraj, the manager working in JD(S) party office has filed a complaint in thepolice station. The manager is associated with the JD(S) party since the last 40 years and it is said that it was the first time either him or the party staff have been blackmailed and or received threatening calls.The calls started around December 4 and the accused is alleged to have called over 20 times from three numbers. “The accused has threatened the victim to ‘accept’ the charges of fraud or face the consequences. When the caller was asked to meet the manager in person, he is alleged to have refused and continued to blackmail the manager. Frustrated over the threatening calls, the victim has blocked the accused’s phone numbers and unknown callers. The caller is also alleged to have verbally abused the staff in the JD(S) party office and the manager,” said an investigating officer.The police are suspecting that the accused could have had a rift with the manager. The calls appear to be internet calls that have been made using a website. The phone numbers from which the calls were made start with +227, +414 and +979.When contacted, S Suresh, the JD(S) party office staff to whose mobile phone number the accused had called, refused to comment on the issue adding that a police complaint has been registered in this regard.The police have registered a case of intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace (IPC 504) and criminal intimidation (IPC 506) against the unidentified accused.Srirampura police registered a case and are further investigating.
