M'luru doc selected for US neurology award

MANGALURU: A city based doctor, who is currently pursuing her DM ( super speciality ) in Neurology at SSIMS and RC Medical College in Davanagere, has been selected for prestigious International Scholarship award, instituted by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). “If my work gets selected, I will be asked to present during the annual meeting. Dr Salma Suhana from Mangaluru, is the award recipient. It will be communicated in February,” she added.Khalid Tannirbavi speaking to TOI expressed happiness about his daughter winning prestigious award and said that she was always hardworking. The AAN will reward her with 2,500 dollars and award.

Dr Salma Suhana from Mangaluru, is the award recipient. She had got gold medal from Fr Muller's Medical College in Mangaluru as the best medical student and got two gold medals from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in MBBS and has completed her MD in General Medicine from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences of Bengaluru.Considering her study in ‘Cerebral Venous Thrombosis’, the AAN has selected her for International Scholarship Award and invited her to participate in annual meeting of international neurologists to be held in Philadelphia in the US in May 2019.Dr Salma is one among 30 doctors selected from across the world. She is the wife of Dr Shakeel M who is the assistant professor in dental department at Qassim University of Saudi Arabia and daughter of retired deputy director (NMPT) Khalid Tannirbavi and daughter-in-law of former judge Moosa Kunhi Nayarmule.Dr Salma Suhana said that she is will be attending annual meeting of international neurologists to be held in Philadelphia.
