JD(S) may get 4-6 seats in deal with Congress

“One, Congress will contest from 24 seats and give JD(S) the option to select four seats of its choice. In 2014, the BJP secured 17 seats, Congress 9 and JD(S) 2. Two, Congress will contest from 22 seats and leave six to JD(S),’’ said a senior Congress leader familiar with the negotiations.Congress leaders also shared data to substantiate their views. Despite BJP winning more seats riding on the Modi wave, Congress secured 40.8% of votes against BJP’s 43%, up from 41.6% in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls. The Congress feels the party can win in the Vokkaliga constituencies of Mandya, Hassan and Mysuru.
