Seer back to mutt, to stay on ventilator

BENGALURU: Siddaganga mutt seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji , 111, who’s battling lung infection , has been brought back to the mutt near Tumakuru The seer is on ventilator. He was admitted at Siddaganga Hospital and Research Centre in Tumakuru a week ago.“Swamiji is conscious and stable. He is on ventilator support at the makeshift hospital set up in the mutt. For the last three days, he was insisting on returning to the mutt and was getting restless. He has difficulty in breathing and his protein levels are low.

He is on ventilator support at the makeshift hospital set up in the mutt. For the last three days, he was insisting on returning to the mutt and was getting restless. There is fluid accumulation in his lungs that is affecting his breathing,” said neurosurgeon Dr NK Venkataramana.On Wednesday evening, JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda visited the mutt.With crowds swelling in front of the mutt, authorities are allowing the public a glimpse of the seer, but only through a glass window.The Karnataka Film Chamber and Commerce (KFCC) on Wednesday wrote to chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, asking him to urge the Centre to confer Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian award, on Siddaganga mutt seer Shivakumara Swamiji.KFCC members described the seer as a nobleman who has contributed in the fields of religion and education. The members have hailed the Swamiji’s effort to provide free education and shelter to many students at the mutt.“The seer is a great man and has done commendable deeds for the welfare of society,” said KFCC president SA Chinne Gowda.
