BENGALURU: Multilingual actor Prakash Raj , who announced his candidature for the Lok Sabha polls from Bengaluru Central segment, said he intends to contest as an independent as he “may not survive beyond three months” if he joins a political party. However, Raj, 53, said secular parties are welcome to support his candidature.Asked why he decided on politics, Raj said the decision was taken in the backdrop of the experience gained during last year’s assembly election, when he travelled the state extensively and realized the people’s voice needed to be heard. As for choosing Bengaluru Central, Raj said he was not only educated, but also blossomed into an actor in the constituency. “I was born at St Martha’s hospital,” he said. “I went to schools and college here and I joined cinema in Gandhinagar . I began my journey from here. So, my roots are here.
