Mysuru: Asia's largest theatre fete from Feb 12

MYSURU: The Heritage City’s tryst with the stage is set to continue in February, with Mysuru all set to host a conference on theatre as part of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav from February 12 (Tuesday). Mysuru theatre repertory Rangayana is supporting the endeavour in Mysuru, which is one of the co-hosts of the festival.Ashok Sagar Bharat, a senior faculty member at NSD, said that the three-day international seminar would be held at Rangayana from Tuesday. The mahotsav, Asia’s largest theatre festival organised by the National School of Drama (NSD), will see plays by acclaimed playwrights being staged, besides workshops and lessons, which will be conducted by veterans in the field. Prof Tripuraru Sharma, a renowned theatre artiste will be conducting classes on Tuesday, while Prof Rita Ganguly, an equally acclaimed theatre personality and former Rangayana director B Jayashri will don the teacher’s hat on the ensuing days.Kannada and culture minister DK Shivakumar, Mysuru district in-charge minister GT Devehowda, NSD director Prof Suresh Sharma and joint director of the Union ministry of culture Nirupama Kotru will be present at the inaugural ceremony of the mahotsav, Bharat said.Posters of the 20th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav were univeiled and released by Bharat and Rangayana director Bhagirathi Bai Kadam on Thursday.
