Man claiming to be BEL employee cheats scores

Gangadharappa's son had completed his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering was looking out for a job. The police said the accused collected about Rs 1.1 crore from all the 76 candidates. Pasha claimed that BEL was offering jobs for the posts of fitters, welders, electricians, machinists, mechanics and accountants and took money from scores of people.In March last year, Pasha sent a WhatsApp list containing 76 names, which, he said, were those who had landed the jobs, on a BEL letterhead.

BENGALURU: A person claiming to be the employee of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), JD(S) worker and aide of the managing director of the PSU is suspected to have cheated scores of people to the tune of more than Rs one crore promising to get them a job in his company.The job fraud came to light fter 48 year old Gangadharappa lost Rs 1.5 lakh to Nayaz Pasha who had promised to get a job for his son.According to police sources, Gangadharappa, who is also a JD(S) worker, in his complaint said that he used to meet the accused - Nayaz Pasha — at the JD(S) office regularly for the last 10 years and the latter pretended that he had lot of high-level contacts.In January 2017, Pasha contacted Gangadharappa and told him that BEL was recruiting people for various posts. Gangadharappa's son had completed his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering was looking out for a job. Meanwhile, a woman introducing herself as Sultana, claiming to be the personal secretary of the BEL MD, allegedly called the candidates and told them to deposit Rs 1.5 lakh in Pasha's account for further process.The candidates are believed to have paid the money.In another WhatsApp communication, Sultana told the candidates that the interview was scheduled to be held in November 2018 and later sent another message saying it had been postponed to January 2019.The fraud came to light when some of the candidates went to BEL to enquire and found out that neither Pasha nor Sultana were employees of BEL.Jalahalli police have registered the case and launched a manhunt for Pasha and his associates. The police said the accused collected about Rs 1.1 crore from all the 76 candidates. TOI also tried to reach Sultana over phone but it was switched off.In 2003, CBI also had caught then deputy manager of BEL C Raghunathan and former employee K A Parameshwaran, after they allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 as part payment of total bribe of Rs 80,000 from 100 candidates who they claimed were shortlisted for recruitment.
