BENGALURU: Karnataka revenue minister RV Deshpande on Wednesday said the Centre’s release of funds towards the drought mitigation methods in the state for 2018-19 Kharif crop is only on paper and no official communique or funds has been provided.Deshpande said, "The Centre has approved assistance of Rs 949.49 crore from the NDRF for Kharif season but it has not been released. "I will write a letter to the prime minister and union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh again for not getting the funds under NDRF for the Kharif drought," Deshpande said.The minister released a copy of the letter sent to union minister Radha Mohan which said Karnataka was being discriminated on the SDRF allocations with only Rs 320 crore being earmarked for the state, including 10 per cent of Karnataka contribution.The minister in his letter, dated February 12, has informed the centre that Karnataka has paid an additional Rs 200 crore from its own funds for flood and drought relief in 2018-19.The state has also raised objections over the centre not considering the "moderately" drought-affected 28 taluks and only provided relief for 72 "severely" affected taluks under the NDRF funds.
