Garment unit VP held for stealing Rs 27L clothes

BENGALURU: A 42-year-old vice-president of a Doddaballapura garment factory was arrested for allegedly stealing readymade clothes worth Rs 27 lakh from his workplace and selling them at a cheaper price.Ravi Kumar V from Singanalluru in Tamil Nadu and vice-president of Sanvi Industries sold clothes for Rs 6 lakh to a shop owner known to him. Later, the clothes were recovered from a shop owned by Muthu Kumaraswamy in Doddaballapura. Upon questioning, Ravi confessed that he was in need of money and decided to sell the garments. Spot investigation indicated an insider's role as there was no sign of forceful entry.CCTV footage showed two contract workers of the unit shifting boxes from the godown to a vehicle.

BENGALURU: A 42-year-old vice-president of a Doddaballapura garment factory was arrested for allegedly stealing readymade clothes worth Rs 27 lakh from his workplace and selling them at a cheaper price.Ravi Kumar V from Singanalluru in Tamil Nadu and vice-president of Sanvi Industries sold clothes for Rs 6 lakh to a shop owner known to him. Ravi, an MBA graduate, had worked in Canada, Japan and Singapore before joining the Doddaballpura factory eight months ago.On March 15, a complaint was lodged by the administrative officer of the unit after around 70 boxes of readymade garments, which were dispatched to Haryana but returned for some reason, went missing. They had been kept in the factory godown. Spot investigation indicated an insider's role as there was no sign of forceful entry.CCTV footage showed two contract workers of the unit shifting boxes from the godown to a vehicle. They told cops that they had acted on directions from Ravi. Upon questioning, Ravi confessed that he was in need of money and decided to sell the garments. Later, the clothes were recovered from a shop owned by Muthu Kumaraswamy in Doddaballapura.
